The condemnation of colonialism is important because, by acknowledging their behaviour as criminal, the nation begins the path of liberation from its past.
Only with the full recognition of their responsibility, and thus with a legal condemnation, nations can establish clear opinion on their action and assume their history as an intentional and not accidental path.
The possibility of reconciliation with their past can therefore be opened.
