‍‍Restitution and reparations to Haiti

On July 30, 2024 the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worships of Haiti Dominique Dupuy announced that Haiti was officially joining the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Reparations Commission, with the creation of the National Commission on Reparations chaired by the Rector of the State University of Haiti Fritz Deshommes.

On 7 April 2003, on the occasion of the bicentennial of the death of Toussaint Louverture, the Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide announces that he will ask France the restitution of  the "independence indemnity" with related interests.
